Douala already vibrates with the sounds of New Year celebrations with the opening of the 9 th edition of the Christmas Market on December 15. For three weeks, the Camtel Bepanda complex could, according to the organizers, accommodate more than 20,000 visitors a day. For this, it has been renovated and expanded, from an area of 12 000 m² to about 20 000 m². This is the main innovation of this 9 th edition under the theme "celebrate with family."
Other novelties include a lunch bar restaurant for after work, the traditional "Fun City", the big manger of Bethlehem, a zone of commerce, a test of discovery of talents, the free cinema sessions assured by the French Institute of Cameroon (IFC), Douala antenna, games for children and even for adults, etc. "This is a time when families meet, have fun with children, a time when the whole city is celebrating and even its surroundings," said Léonie Kouekam, promoter of the Christmas Market.
"This is our biggest event like Ya-Fe in Yaounde, which aims to interest all our people wherever you live for the end of the year," said his side Fritz Ntone Ntone, government delegate to the Douala Urban Community (CUD), official partner of the event since last year.
A partnership that has undoubtedly kept the market entry price at FCFA 300 as in 2016. The collaboration of the CUD also strengthened the credibility of the event on the commercial front with a large participation of the companies. The festivities are therefore launched and the administrative authorities say that they have taken all the necessary security measures.
