Patrice Nganang's lawyer challenges the eviction of his client: "What has been done is outside the law. Nganang is Cameroonian »

Patrice Nganang is not Cameroonian, so decided the Cameroonian justice. Patrice Nganang's lawyer says he wants to consult with his client before initiating or not appealing.

The writer of Cameroonian origin and of Camerican nationality was expelled Wednesday, December 27, 2017 from the Cameroonian territory. Pursued for contempt of life, he was detained in Yaounde Central Prison.

While the next hearing of his trial was scheduled for 19 January 2018, Patrice Nganang was summoned to court late Wednesday morning. The judge informed him of the withdrawal of his Cameroonian passport. Less than two hours later, he embarked on an Ethiopian Airlines flight to the United States.

Questioned by RFI (Radio France Internationale), this 28 December 2017, his lawyer considered that the law was violated in this case. "In fact, what has been done is perfectly outside the law. Mr. Nganang is Cameroonian, he has an American passport. It takes a particular procedure for a judge to take a decision removing the Cameroonian nationality, it has not been done, " indignant Me Emmanuel Simh .

Patrice Nganang's counsel explains that "the prosecutor who received me told me verbally that '' we are taking Mr. Nganang's Cameroonian passport and we consider him a US citizen in an illegal situation in Cameroon and we expel him "But," continues the lawyer , "it is not up to a prosecutor to withhold a passport and say '' you are not Cameroonian ''. And it was well organized because it happens it is 12h in Yaounde after the hearing. And at 14h, he was in an airplane already. So everything was already prepared, " says Simh. He will consult with his client to appeal or not.

On the airwaves of the CRTV radio, Issa Tchiroma , the spokesman of the government, explained that the release of Patrice Nganang was ordered by President Paul Biya .
