Cameroon - Anglophone Crisis: The Head of United Nations System is in the South West and Northwest Regions trying to reconcile the authorities and populations from there she would proceed to the Mamfe

For 16 months since a socio-politico-security crisis has prolonged the Anglophone Regions of Cameroon in the mess, the central government and activists of the crisis can not agree on a solution to the crisis.

As the days go by, the situation goes from bad to worse, with dead men in uniform and civilians. The international organizations and the friendly countries of Cameroon persist in the fact that only a sincere and constructive dialogue can lead to a lasting exit from the crisis.

It is in this logic that Mrs. Allegra Maria Del Pilar Baiocchi, head of the United Nations System and some of her staff are currently staying in Bamenda, capital of the North West Region.

It proposes a strategy around communication to bring people and authorities to reconciliation. "Rebuilding the trust between authorities and people, must necessarily go through a transparent and honest communication from all sides and a call for dialogue" said Allegra Maria Del Pilar on the antenna of the State Radio in the newspaper 20h this Thursday 8 February 2018.

During the exchanges that last till today , February 9th, the populations and authorities will be sensitized also on the importance of the communication, the manipulations and other dangers that can convey the social networks.

The United Nations system delegation is expected in the Southwest Region, precisely in the town of Mamfe, the epicenter of deadly clashes between secessionists and defense and security forces.

On the UN website, it is reported that the UN system in Cameroon is led by a team whose leadership is based on mutual accountability for the results of the UN in the country. The coordination function is strengthened and overseen by the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Cameroon, the designated representative of the Secretary-General for development operations.

The country team works together, through the "Delivering as One" approach, to respond more effectively to Cameroon's development and humanitarian challenges, as mandated by the United Nations. Cameroon has a total of twenty-two agencies, funds and programs that have various projects in the country.
