Cameroon Crisis: the last solution, the most convincing proposed to Biya

A well-known professor and a senior official in Cameroon said the lingering tensions in the north-west and south-west regions could be reduced by 40 percent if the head of state freed the imprisoned ambazonia leaders.

"If at 18 hours, the head of state releases all those arrested, including leaders, within a maximum of one week, the problems will be solved at about 40%. The more you brutalize and stop fighters, the more you radicalize young people, "said Professor George Orock Enow.

The director of the Buea Regional Hospital added that the arrest of moderates gave way to the radicals and that due to the mismanagement of the crisis by the government, the situation was deteriorating.

"Opportunities to solve this crisis have been missed. People have been radicalized. So many people are dead. government soldiers, civilians and combatants, "he lamented.

Professor Enow Orock believes that the only way out of the current stalemate is to grant an amnesty to all those who are in prison and to sit down at a round table.

"Whatever happens, there must be a round table. Even in two, five or ten years. And when the time comes, the biggest question will be whether all the bloodshed was worth it. Contrary to what the Honorable Joseph Wirba said, the anglophone problem might not sink in Cameroon. The country could learn from this crisis and sit down together on a common table to find a solution to all the problems that undermine the country.

"Why do not you sit down on the round table now and save more lives? Questioned Professor Enow George.

The professor did not mince words condemning what he called the role of the government in worsening the crisis.

He used a saying to paint the painting more.

Hear it: "You do not call a dog with a stick in your hand and you expect him to come. Even if you are the master or you use several baits.

"The government has a duty to preserve the unity, the integrity of the state and to ensure the safety of people and property. Government is nothing without the people. If government voters have grievances, the government has to listen to them. There is no weakness to give an attentive ear. "

He concluded by emphasizing the need to reduce the military presence.

"When you send a soldier into a conflict situation like this, you have two options: either shoot or get shot. The government should reduce the number of soldiers on the ground. There must also be a de-escalation on both sides. The local population is suffering the consequences. "
