Partnership: Algeria now eyed in Cameroon

It is in the prospect of reconnecting with its natural geographical extension, that Algeria organizes seminars, fora and fairs to expose its assets to potential partners.

After North Africa, West Africa and the Sahel, Algeria plans to deploy economically in Central Africa (CEMAC), and it is Cameroon that is selected to be the pivot country and the plate its economic partnership with this subregion, which includes Cameroon, Central African Republic, Congo, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea and Chad.

The choice of Cameroon to establish a sustainable economic partnership with the countries of the Central African region is not fortuitous, because it remains the most important in terms economic, geographical, strategic and demographic in this region and is his heart beating, as well as its opening door. Algeria and Cameroon are driven by a strong desire to enhance their economic partnership, considered weak and unsatisfactory in view of excellent political and diplomatic relations between these two friendly countries.

The Algerian Embassy in Yaoundé, in consultation with the Cameroonian officials concerned, has drawn up a concrete roadmap to strengthen the bilateral economic partnership and make 2019 "a year of Algerian-Cameroonian partnership".

The intervention of the Algerian Ambassador to Cameroon will focus on the regional importance of Algeria and Cameroon in economic and strategic terms, the state of play and opportunities for economic complementarity between the two countries, the consolidation and updating of the legal arsenal governing bilateral economic cooperation, the particular interest accorded to transport and logistics, the revival of the great Algerian-Cameroonian Joint Economic Commission, the organization of specific economic events in Cameroon, the creation of a commercial counter in Douala, the accompaniment and encouragement of the economic operators of the two countries in their partnership quest, and the Continental Free Trade Area (CFTA) as a bona fide opportunity for increase of bilateral economic exchanges.
