Maurice Kamto has been 'too' humiliated, says Prosper Nkou Mvondo

The politician denounces what he sees as the embellishment of the opposition by the power of Yaounde.

The case of the Movement for the Renaissance of Cameroon (MRC) has evolved during the week that is ending. The arrest in the South-West region of Me Michèle Ndoki, lawyer at the Cameroon Bar and vice-president of the women's organization of the MRC, currently held in the premises of the Special Operations Group (GRO) in Yaounde . The subject was therefore at the heart of almost all talk shows on television channels this Sunday, March 3, 2019.

Asked to comment on the issue on the Elites Club platform, on Vision 4, Prof. Prosper Nkou Mvondo denounced the treatment inflicted on the leader of the MRC. "I am embarrassed that a gentleman like Maurice Kamto is humiliated in this way. It carries 14% of the aspirations of Cameroonians. Whatever the fault he has committed, Mr Maurice Kamto deserves respect ... we are in a highly marked political context. In law, there is what is called the opportunity of prosecution. It's not all the offenses that are prosecuted. Was it really opportune to prosecute Professor Maurice Kamto the day after a presidential election? "Asked the president of the UNIVERS party.

"I continue to express the shame I have for my country, Cameroon. Fortunately, we are fighting for things to change tomorrow; so that tomorrow someone who thinks like me will come to power and release the opposition to express itself; how to govern without applying the laws and regulations in a discriminatory manner, "added the law professor at the University of Ngaoundere in the region of Adamaoua.

A position that does not share the political scientist Mathias Eric Owona Nguini. In response to the statements of Prosper Nkou Mvondo, the academic formulated this question: "Would the first, the second or the last of a presidential election have, by that very fact, a status of immunity?". A question to which the researcher at the Paul Ango Ela Foundation responded with a "No! It is not because one is a candidate for a presidential election that one has an immunity that preserves us from being eventually prosecuted by the courts if it considers that a particular offense has been committed. If the RCM had organized its marches to protest violations over the exercise of freedom of assembly, the case could have been arguable. But the motive of electoral hold-up, shows very clearly that it is about an insurrectional dynamics", argued Owona Nguini.
