In a tribune "The dolce vita genevois dictator Paul Biya" published Saturday morning on his blog (commecacestdit.blog.tdg.ch), the Swiss deputy Sylvain Thévoz, initiator last June a petition against the frequent stays in Switzerland's Cameroonian presidential couple, said his concern about the tensions that could arouse another guest announced on the web of Paul Biya in the land of William tell.
It is not easy to know if the document circulating online and announcing a new stay of the dictator Paul Biya in Geneva is authentic or not. Still, after the events of the beginning of the summer when a journalist from the RTS was molested and a peaceful demonstration harshly repressed, shattering the image of Switzerland on the international scale, the possible return of the dictator Cameroon and his armed henchmen is really not good news for Geneva.
It is especially shocking that Switzerland is allowing a dictator in power for 37 years and currently responsible for a genocide in western Cameroon to have entered his territory, whether for a private or official stay, having killed more than 2,000 people in two years. A genocidal person is an automatically persona non grata person in Europe and in the world. Switzerland seems to be an exception.
Some rumors even claim that Paul Biya has acquired Swiss citizenship. True or false? Still, it would be extremely shocking that our nationality is bought as well. The presence of the dictator on holiday in Geneva offends the sense of justice and undermines the credibility of Switzerland and Geneva as a place of dialogue and as a capital of human rights.
Switzerland had announced that it was mediating a mediation process regarding the current conflict in Cameroon. However, the government of Cameroon has never acknowledged having engaged in such a process. As for the opponents, they denounce the fact that according to the adage of Stalin "what is mine is mine, what is yours is negotiated", any discussion seem to happen in the framework wanted by the old dictator who blurs the messages and tracks so that everything continues as before.
Paul Biya recently sent a message to Cameroonians in which he announced he wanted to look for ways to ease tensions. However, his main opponents are all in prison, Professor Maurice Kamto, winner of the last presidential election, as well as the main English-speaking leaders of western Cameroon. That Switzerland lends itself to such a masquerade is worrying and provokes the anger of Cameroonians in exile against our country.
It is to be feared that if Paul Biya, a dictator who has been in office for 37 years and is responsible for a genocide currently in western Cameroon, continues to come to Geneva with the blessing of our authorities, demonstrations and disturbances do not occur.
The risk that runs to the population the state is large, and the disorder to public order generated by the dictator consequent. To let armed henchmen who have shown how little they do the laws of our country, is a serious risk.
While crimes against humanity are continuing in western Cameroon, it is shocking that the Swiss and Geneva authorities still roll out the red carpet to Paul Biya and that the latter still enjoys the finest amenities in Geneva.
To date, Nazi and Hutu genocide criminals have been prosecuted and tried around the world for crimes against humanity, for events that took place decades ago. Which is only justice. It is shocking that in all tranquility and with the welcome visas of Switzerland, Paul Biya continues to pack his suitcases at the Intercontinental and rob the shops of the Rue du Rhône, hands covered with the blood of Cameroonians and Cameroonians.
Does Snowden's revelations about US-led espionage of non-governmental organizations in Geneva shock you? Me too. Is it not even more shocking that a genocidal dolce vita in Geneva and shopping at the rue du Rhone with impunity?
