Dissolution of the LFPC: "I may be old, but in Cameroon there is a President of the Republic who is 86 years old" Pierre Semengue

The Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT), through its Executive Committee, decided on 3 September 2019 to dissolve the Cameroon Professional Football League (LFPC), headed by Pierre Semengue, a retired army general.

Reacting to this decision, the President of the LFPC said he was determined to defend his "tooth and nail" mandate . He was elected in 2016 for a four-year term ending in July 2020.

When asked about his age, (84 years) judged advanced by some, the retired military responds by making a comparison with Yaounde's power brokers, including the first of them, Paul Biya.

"I may be old, but there is a Senator ( Victor Mukete ) who is 101 in Cameroon; there is a President of the Republic who is 86 years old; there is a president of the Senate ( Marcel Niat Njifenji ) who is 85 years old. I only have 84, " said Pierre Semengue, more than ever decided not to give up his chair.

In place of the League, FECAFOOT has created a Transitional Technical Committee . An organ that will be headed by the first vice-president of FECAFOOT, Aboubakar Alim Konaté , for a two-year term. Its mission is to manage current affairs and restructure in depth the body that organizes the professional championships.
