The opening of the Grand National Dialogue convened by the President of Cameroon, Paul Biya and long-awaited by many people, was official this Monday, September 30 at the Palais des Congrès in Yaounde to end on October 4.

At the end of this first day of the Grand National Dialogue, several reactions were noticed. Among the highlights of this first day are Sultan Mbombo Njoya, the repentant separatist.

Prime Minister Dion Ngute has reframed the big national dialogue by saying that participants should not deviate from the points already established by President Paul Biya. In his address, the Prime Minister Head of the Government Dion Ngute affirms:

This dialogue offers us the opportunity to find, in the example of the founding fathers of our country, the strength to transcend our violence.

Before bidding:

I measure our historic responsibility to our children, our grandchildren and future generations. In deciding to invite the forces to this great national dialogue, President Paul Biya makes each of us fully responsible for the destiny of our homeland.

In his speech, Sultan Mbombo Njoya will have presented his main points to solve the problems of Cameroon:

I continue to think and repeat that the problem that is happening in Cameroon is also that of alternation and the only remedies that can cure the evil are: The constitutional revision; the limitation of the presidential mandate to 2 × 5 years non-renewable; the election in two rounds; the revision of the electoral code; decentralization which must be accelerated in the six months following the dialogue, he said in his speech, you can download here. In the following, the leader of the SDF, Ni John Fru Ndi was noticed by his attitude by very happy when the subject of the form of the State was not included on the agenda. It should be noted that the SDF, like some political parties, advocates federalism in Cameroon.

We decided to lay down the weapons because we realized that we were manipulated.

This is the main sentence that marked the intervention of ex-separatists led by their representative Kawa Yannick. At the beginning of his speech, the group of ex-separatists will have received a standing ovation from all the public present at this Grand National Dialogue. Kawa Yannick in her speech, will advocate peace, love and return to serenity while doing a retrospective on the circumstances that led them to a hard radicalization. But if today they call themselves ex-separatists, it is because they have turned the page of this not very glorious past.

A gesture that has not gone unnoticed is the release of the chairman Akéré Muna. He calls for the release of all "political prisoners" and the debate is centered on the form of the state.

The same feeling of disappointment was observed on the part of the members of the South West delegation who were particularly expecting a debate on the form of the State, so that decentralization is slow to take place. Let us mention that the question on the form of the State was part of their proposals deposited with the Prime Minister.
