The New Expression (LNE), in its edition of December 20, 2017, publishes extracts of the statement of the SI on this subject. "As for the dramatic and worrying development of the situation affecting the English-speaking population of Cameroon, we deplore the loss of life, both within the civilian population and in the ranks of the defense and security forces. We urge President Biya to urgently open a frank and sincere dialogue with the various credible actors of the Cameroonian society in order to avoid the radicalization of the population in the English-speaking regions of North-West and South-West, which benefits the secessionists and other opportunists " .
The SI encourages "the Social Democratic Front (SDF), in its quest for a lasting solution through dialogue at all levels and in all its forms" . On December 19 at the Unity Palace Patricia Osoyo , Secretary General of the Commonwealth, Paul Biya indicated that he did not close the door to dialogue "I will persist in seeking solutions that will strengthen our national unity", did he declare.
But the Head of State also said that as Guarantor of the institutions under our Constitution and in particular the unity of national, it is my duty to restore order and punish the guilty of these assassinations ".
