Message to the Nation: Paul Biya speaks to Cameroonians on Sunday

The President of the Republic will address his compatriots in his end-of-year speech.

The tradition will once again be respected Sunday, December 31, 2017 with the end-of-year message of the President of the Republic Nation. Great moment of communion between the Head of State and his fellow citizens, if any, the speech of this year 2017, will be particularly scrutinized.

Firstly because of the socio-political context of Cameroon at the moment. If our country has been able to cope with the threats of the Boko Haram terrorist sect in the northern part and particularly in the Far North region, as it has managed to contain the abuses of armed gangs from the neighboring Central African Republic , Cameroon is facing a new front today.

The one born of secessionist practices in the North West and South West regions. Everything started with the demands of teachers unions and lawyers from both regions. Complaints to which the government, on the instructions of the President of the Republic Paul Biya brought appropriate answers. Despite this, there has been an escalation that has resulted in the assassination of some elements of the defense and security forces.

Faced with these secessionist aims, President Paul Biya wanted to be clear, addressing his compatriots a year ago: "... Cameroon is a country more than ever standing. A UN and INDIVISIBLE country, proud of its cultural diversity and jealous of its freedom ... ".

The President of the Republic did not fail to announce the creation of a national structure responsible for proposing solutions for the maintenance of peace, the consolidation of national unity and the reinforcement of the will, constantly manifested by his compatriots, to live together.

Three weeks later, was born the National Commission for the Promotion of Bilingualism and Multiculturalism (CNPBM) whose first fifteen members were to be appointed a few weeks later. This one, under the leadership of the former Prime Minister, Peter Mafany Musonge is now at work. Addressing his compatriots next Sunday, President Paul Biya could discuss a number of challenges that challenge our country.

These are both socio-economic, with, as he indicated on June 20 in the circular concerning the preparation of the 2018 budget, the completion of the various projects of the three-year emergency plan for the acceleration of the growth he has prescribed to the government to improve the living conditions of Cameroonians.

Another expected result, the end of some major projects launched in some areas of the country and for which he wants to see the completion to provide more opportunities for his compatriots.

But 2018 is also on the eve of the African Nations Cup of Nations (CAN 2019), a major sporting event for which the President of the Republic himself has pledged to ensure its holding to date, the During the reception offered to Cameroonian athletes on August 10, 2017 at the Palace of Unity.

But how not to emphasize that the intervention of the President of the Republic this year will occur on the eve of a particular year, not to say important for Cameroonians. They are constantly emphasizing that 2018 is an election year. That is to say that the state of the nation that will brush the President of the Republic Sunday is particularly expected.
