This is one of the resolutions of the recent NEC meeting in Bamenda.
The New Expression (LNE) published January 16, 2018 informs that the Chairman of the Social Democratic Front (SDF), Ni John Fru Ndi , should visit Nigeria this week. If the information is confirmed, the historical opponent of Paul Biya will visit refugee camps where nationals of English-speaking regions who have fled the crisis that has been raging for more than 15 months.
LNE indicates that this is one of the resolutions of the meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party of the balance, held in Bamenda last weekend. A resolution, says our colleague, taken after heated debates over the Anglophone crisis. SDF executives decided to appeal for the establishment of parliamentary inquiry commissions and the release of those still detained as part of the crisis.
The debates also focused on the future of the current leader. John Fru Ndi has been at the helm of the party since its creation in May 1990, 28 years of undivided rule. More and more, activists and sympathizers of the SDF see his end of reign. The person himself, according to some media, would not be totally opposed to the idea of giving way to another.
But according to LNE, Fru Ndi has already submitted his candidacy to seek a new term at the head of the party he founded. He could have in front a challenger whose identity has not yet been revealed. The suspense will end on February 22, 23 and 24, during the 8th National Congress of the party. We will then have the SDF Chairman to be the candidate of his party in this year's presidential election, or he will leave the privilege to someone else.
