Cameroon - Anglophone Crisis: Femi Falana (Nigerian Lawyer of Ambazonian Leaders Arrested in Abuja) challenges Cameroon to Issue International Arrest Warrant Against Secessionists


The Nigerian lawyer of the English-speaking leaders arrested in Abuja on January 5, 2018 asserts that the Cameroonian authorities can not demand the extradition of his clients.

In an interview given on January 9, 2018 to Radio France Internationale (RFI English), Femi Falana said that her clients were arrested by Nigerian security forces while holding a meeting in Abuja.

"If you are calling on foreigners and you want them to be driven out of your country, it must be done according to extradition agreements, but there is no extradition convention between Cameroon and Nigeria,  " said the lawyer. in his interview with RFI.

Femi Falana indicates that the arrest and detention of Sisiku and his companions are "  unjustifiable  ". According to him, if they ever committed crimes in Nigeria, they must be tried in Nigeria by a Nigerian court. It notes that at least three of these persons in detention enjoy political asylum in Nigeria.

He indicates that no arrest warrant against his clients has been issued by Cameroon. "  I challenge the Government of Cameroon to produce an international arrest warrant. Which court was established  ? Asks Femi who adds that no one can enter Nigeria and "kidnap" under the pretext of an international warrant of arrest that is irrelevant.
