English crisis: Beti Assomo calls for the return of the populations of Manyu

The minister delegate to the presidency of the Republic in charge of Defense, affirms that all the villages are from now on protected.

The Minister of Defense paid a visit to the Manyu Department, the epicenter of recent recorded violence, following clashes between the defense forces and armed individuals claiming to be militants of the secessionist cause. Joseph Beti Assomo went to inquire about the security situation of this department in crisis.

Mindef welcomed the work done by the Cameroonian defense and security forces and reassured the people of Manyu that their department is now secure. "  This descent allowed us to see under what conditions men work, to see how the villages were secured. Even though, here and there, we have found that some villages have been abandoned, "he said.

"In fear, the inhabitants crossed the border to establish themselves, to take refuge in Nigeria. This is an opportunity for me to appeal to these populations to return, to find their villages that have been secured, to find their pastoral, pastoral and other activities, "added the Minister of Defense.

In October 2017,  Andrej Mahecic , the spokesman for the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees told a press conference in Geneva (Switzerland) that since the escalation of tensions between security forces and protesters in the north-west and south-west of Cameroon in October 2017, joint teams of UNHCR and the government registered 7,204 new arrivals in border villages in Cross River State, Nigeria. And according to their information, thousands of others are also waiting to be registered.
