The use of violence by the government on the first day of the national dialogue contrasts with the peace and peaceful resolution of the Anglophone crisis sought by President Paul Biya. While thousands of Cameroonians made the trip to the Palais des Congrès in Yaounde to attend the opening of the national dialogue that focuses on the Anglophone crisis, these same Anglophones die under the bullets of the Cameroonian army.
And yet in his speech, Prime Minister Dion Ngute urged his compatriots to make their diversity a source of wealth. For the Prime Minister, "linguistic diversity must be a source of opportunity". He called on the people of Cameroon to defend peace and to reject horror and war.
By the time he recited these beautiful words, the weapons were still crackling in the English-speaking areas. And yet the Cameroonian authorities have presented a group of young people in the world as ambazonian veterans who laid down their arms.
The violence of the attacks carried out today by the Cameroonian army gives reason to the analysts of the Cameroonian crisis who declared earlier that the real protagonists of the English crisis were not at the Palais des Congrès in Yaoundé.
