National Dialogue: "An intellectual normally is not there to fan hatreds, divisions, tribalism" Calixte Beyala


The Franco-Cameroonian writer was the guest of the Sunday broadcast "Dimanche Midi" aired on the French National Radio station on September 15, 2019. " We must call to lay down the arms. An intellectual does not distribute weapons. An intellectual distributes knowledge, distributes books, distributes notebooks, distributes pencils, teaches others, children to read and write, not to kill, "she added.

" So, we must reclaim and occupy the ground in this natural function that is ours, namely, to be finally the guardians of a society. We must learn to stay in our role of transcending ideals, parties and bringing reason to one another, "says novelist laureate of the Grand Prix literary of Black Africa and the Grand Prix of the novel of the French Academy.
