Cameroon - Accident: An aircraft of the Cameroonian army crashes in the periphery of Garoua without causing casualties


An aircraft of the air force crashed on Saturday, December 23, 2017 around 12 hours in the locality of Ngong located about fifty kilometers from Garoua.

According to sources of the air base 301 of Garoua, the type of microlight aircraft Tetras, registered XDA-TJ, crashed while coming out of an observation mission in support of the 31 th Infantry Brigade Motorized ( BRIM) in raking operations in the Bénoué National Park in the Northern Region. " The plane was carrying two people namely Colonel Tchouasseu Serge (deputy commander of Garoua Air Base 301) and Colonel Mbezele Dieudonné, " said our source, adding that the two valiant officers came out " safe and sound, but we deplore significant material damage .

The same source also informs that the first elements of the investigation opened after the accident indicate " an engine stop " in full flight. " When the failure was found, the two officers forced an emergency landing on a vacant lot, which saved the loss of life  ," said our source.

Returning from a reconnaissance mission in the fight against Boko Haram, a Cameroonian army helicopter crashed on 22 January 2017 at around 18:45 in Bogo, Diamaré department, Far East region. North. Four Cameroonian officers including Brigadier General Jacob Kodji, Commander Joint Military Region No. 4, were killed in the crash.
